What A Day

I have so many things going on these next few days it's not even funny. In fact, I was talking to my friend Becky this morning and she was like girl do you ever slow down.

Today I picked up the keys to my new apartment and took my first load of stuff over there. The electricity is suppose to be turned on today, but as of 11:15 it still wasn't on :-( I'm probably going to take a few more small things over there when I go sign my lease and leave the rest for the movers to move tomorrow. I have to go to a workshop in the morning from 8:30-11:30 and then the movers will be here between 12 & 2. Please keep your fingers crossed that it doesn't rain while they are moving my furniture.

Not only did I get the keys to my new place, but Robin #2 had her little baby girl this morning. Adalyn Grace Averitt was born at 11:12 this morning and the new family is doing great. Her sister blogged about it the whole time and it felt like you were there with the family; it was so neat. I can't wait to go see the new family.

Today is also April's birthday. I'm really sad that I'm not going to be going to mom and Johns this weekend to hang out with her and Brad one last time before Brad leaves to go back to school. It makes me sad that my little brother is going back to Amarillo and I won't get to see him as often. Hopefully he will decide to do his last 2 years of school in Dallas.

Going to get some lunch, check for electricity and then take another load of stuff over.

Busy, Busy, Busy

I feel like these last few days have been a constant go, go go. Sunday I went to the lake with Robin and we met her friend Brandon, his brother, sister and niece. We had so much fun just hanging out, having a few drinks, and floating around. I even made friends with Brandon's niece Haylee :-) She was adorable, but a definite handful. Before the rain came, we left and the 6 of us went to OTB for some dinner. The service sucked and the food was okay, but that's beside the point. After we finished eating, Haylee wanted her uncle Courtney to move over so she could come sit by me and play with the crayons and color. It was so cute and made my day that she wanted to play with me; especially since she wouldn't hardly talk to Robin :-( sorry sweetie.

Yesterday was a rainy, nasty day. When I finally got up, a little after 10, and got on the computer, Robin messaged me and we started having our usual morning chat. Somehow we made the decision to go to the movies and see The Hangover. Oh my gosh... if you haven't seen that movie you must go. It was so funny that I laughed just about the whole way through it. After the movie I drug Robin to Bed Bath and Beyond to look around. I've been wanting a new spice rack for a while, but the one I want is at Crate and Barrel and is $40. So during one of my many online shopping sessions, I found one at BB&B that I liked. It was the same price as the one at Crate and Barrel, but I had a $10 off coupon and a $25 gift card for BB&B so I decided to get that one. Anyways, when I was looking at the spice racks at BB&B they just happened to have 1 like the one from Crate and Barrel that I wanted, so I snagged it up. When I get up to the register to pay, I gave her my coupons and all that fun stuff. To make a long story short, the spice rack ended up ringing up for $20. I was so excited because with my coupon it only cost me $10. After that, I came home with the intention of packing, but I ended up laying on the couch instead.

Today I feel like has been a constant battle of getting everything done. I go pick up the keys to my new place tomorrow and get to start moving things in. The movers will be here Thursday afternoon to move all the big stuff and most of the boxes, but I have a training from 8:30-11:30 that morning. So I pretty much have to have everything done that I need done by tomorrow at the latest.

This morning I had to get up and go sign up for our new health insurance. Talk about a HUGE waste of time. The enrollment process is the exact same way that it's always been, but we had to stand in line and wait to have someone walk us through it all. After messing with all of that this morning, I came home ready to tackle the world; well more like my apartment. I packed the bathroom, closet, and the majority of the kitchen. The only reason I didn't finish the kitchen was because I ran out of boxes. I even have stuff piled up in the laundry basket, and none of it is laundry. After spending the majority of the day packing and all that fun stuff, I finally think that their really may be a light at the end of the tunnel. Now I'm exhausted and getting a slight headache. Once I move, I won't have internet access until Monday so don't be surprised when you don't hear anything from me for a few days. Hopefully thought, once they come set the internet up Monday, I'll be done decorating and can post some new pics. Have a wonderful rest of the week and an even better weekend.

Eli Young

Friday night we went to Lone Star Park to see Eli Young for April's, my brother's girlfriend, birthday. Her birthday isn't until Wednesday, but we celebrated early since it falls in the middle of the week.

As usual we had a great time and I got to meet some cool new people. We left to tailgate around 6:30 with every intention of going to the concert before 9 since it was $5 before 9 and $15 after 9. Needless to say, one thing led to another and it was probably 9:45 before we decided to go in. Granted we had to pay more to get in, but we probably ended up spending less money since we didn't drink much once we were inside. There were so many people there that we were losing people left and right. As soon as we would find one group of people, we would lose another. I was really sad that we lost Robin since we had been looking forward to this concert all summer. For all of you that know Robin, don't worry, she wasn't alone. Her "friend" Jared met us up there and they hung out on there own.

Despite a small amount of drama, which I'm not going to get into, it was a great night. Finally about midnight Brad, April and I left for my apartment and had a slumber party. I even let them sleep in my bed and I slept on the couch. Am I a good sister or what? Not to mention that I love my couch and it's about the size of a twin size bed so I was good.

So after laying on the couch and having a very unproductive day yesterday, I'm going to the lake with Robin and Brandon today. Hopefully I'll finish packing tomorrow, since it may rain, and everything will be ready for the movers on Thursday.

Have a wonderful Sunday.

My New Apartment

This morning I had to get up and take my friend Kyle to the airport, which means I was up, out of bed, and leaving my apartment at 8:30. It actually feels good to get up and moving in the mornings. Since I was out and about, I decided to stop by my new apartment and take another look around. I also had my camera with me so I took a few pics while I was at it. For those of you that don't know this already, I'm a very visual person. So as I'm taking things down and packing, I'm visualizing where I'm going to put it in the new place. Since I've slept since I first saw it, I couldn't remember all the details.

In this pic, I was standing in the living room looking back towards the stairs. I'm really excited to decorate the hallway/stairway area. Back around the corner (when you come up the stairs) is a coat closet and a built in desk area.

This is a little shelf area in the kitchen/above the bar. This was the one thing I couldn't remember and really wanted to see. I love having this space to decorate and put stuff.

Right here is the dining room. I like the area on the left that has the arches to "separate" everything. It keeps that space from being just a big blank area.
And this is my kitchen... I love how open it is to everything. Right now I have a raised "bar" that is good for nothing and a waste of space really. The only thing you can do with it is put stuff up there. Now I'll be able to actually have more than one thing on the counter at a time.

I promise to post pics after I get it all decorated and together. For now, I'm back to packing and getting everything ready. I'm so excited to take on this new adventure.

Surgery and Packing

So I went to the doctor yesterday and surgery is scheduled for Friday, August 14 @ 12:30. My mom and John are going to come up here and take me, because she loves me that much ;-) and it's an excuse for them to both take the day off. The doctor said that it should be a very simple procedure, but since the lipoma goes down deeper, she has to knock me out completely and do it in the OR. There is also a small area where my skin has stretched out because of it so she's going to cut off that excess skin and tighten it up. She said the only real risks are bleeding and infection, but she will give me some meds for the pain and all that. I should be able to get up and around afterwards, but I'll be sore and have to be really carefull not the break the stitches. Since it's located on my upper inner thigh I'm curious to see how well or much I'm going to want to walk right after. I also have to go back to work that following Monday, but it's just for inservice/staff development. I figure the drugs will help make that week a little better since I probably won't care too much about anything in the first place.

As far as moving goes, I'm getting a little closer everyday. Things are slowly finding their way into boxes and I'm dealing with the mess as best I can. My dining room has become the collection place for everything. I find that if it's all in one central location, it's not only easier to move, but also easier to look at. Since I seem to have abused my 10 minute break time I should probably get back to work.

Lunch with the Girls

I was pretty pumped today because I got to go to lunch at The Cheesecake Factory with Becky and Azur. We has such a great time sitting there catching up on life and all the exciting things going on. Beck is getting ready to go visit her parents in Pittsburg for about 10 days and Az & John close on their house next week. Hopefully Lyllian will give them a few weeks before she decides to grace the world with her presence. She isn't due until Aug. 31, but we all think she is going to be a little early. You all know that I'm moving next week as well.

After our 3 hour lunch, I decided to go to Crate and Barrel just to look around. I love that store and could spend a ton of money in there with no problems. I did however refrain from buying anything, despite the sale. I didn't want to get something and then not have anywhere to put it in the new place; even though it is over 100 sq. feet bigger than what I have now. So I decided to wait until after I move. My mom is coming to visit me with her friend Sherry the week after I move, so she told me today that we can go shopping for new things when they are here. I do get most of my bad shopping habits from.

I have an appointment to see the surgeon tomorrow morning and I'm curious to know when he's going to be able to take this thing out of my leg. I would really like for it to be done before school starts back, but I don't know if that's going to happen considering everything that I have going on. I'll make sure to update everyone with how things go in the morning. Hopefully it won't rain tomorrow and I'll be able to go to the pool. I haven't been since Thursday and I'm feeling kinda white. Have a wonderful night and a great Tuesday!!!

I Finally Did It....

Well I finally started packing today. It looks so strange to see all of my stuff going into boxes. I never fully realized just how much stuff I have until now. I was able to fill a whole 55qt. plastic container with just picture frames and a few picture albums. I also went through my hanging clothes and I'm getting rid of probably 50 different shirts; my garage sale pile is going to be HUGE I think.

I had to call my mom today and tell her to keep saving me boxes and I'm sure I'll have to go back to the store and get more plastic crates. I filled 6 boxes with different books that I keep at my house, and I haven't even started on the kitchen or my bedroom.

It's time to get back to packing, and finish watching a movie on abc family.

Another Fun Thursday Night

So Thursday night was another Glass Cactus night, and as usual we had more fun than we should have.

After getting up early to go to the Dr. I decided to go shopping for a cute dress to wear out. 2 pairs of pants, 2 shirts and a pair of earrings later, I left Loft with nothing to wear out. About 1 I met Robin at "work" so we could have that extra "glow" for our night out. We hung out at the pool for a few hours before deciding to go to our respective apartments to get ready. Since it takes Robin longer to get ready than it takes me, I decided to work on getting some things together for the "big" move in a few weeks. (For those of you that don't know, I'm moving to a new apartment the end of July. It's a different complex than I'm in now, but it is literally across the street from where I live now. I can see the new bulding I'm moving to from the one I live in now.) After spending 45 minutes on the phone with TXU, I finally got everything situated with them and then booked my movers.

Tammy, Robin, and I met up with Beck and Kyle for dinner and a few drinks around 6 at the Sky Bar in Grapevine before heading down the road to the Glass Cactus. Daniel and Larry met us out there and then the party started. This Thursday was a special one because it marked the 1 Year Anniversary of Becky and Kyle meeting; they met at the Glass Cactus last summer. Kyle decided to get the night started off with a round of shots. We all just hung out talking, laughing and dancing the night away. Bart Crow and Brandon Ryder were playing. Bart and I went to school together at Tarleton, so it was great to see him.

After a few more rounds of "girls" shots we were having too much fun. Around 11:30 the 'boys' decided it was time to go home. Kyle had to be at work at 6:30 the next morning so we all left. Robin, Tammy and I went back to Beck and Kyles with them. Kyle went to bed and us girls sat outside on the patio talking and having a few more drinks. It was great to hang out with the girls talking and catching up. Finally around 3, we decided to go to bed; what is it with me and 3 a.m. being the magic time to call it a night recently?

Friday turned out to be a very non productive day of sitting on the couch in the dark watching TV. Brad and April came over around 5 so we could take him to meet some of the guys he plays softball with at the Rangers game. After dropping him off, we went to Double Dave's and got some pizza rolls and a coke to-go in order to prepare for our "Movie Marathon". Words can't express how good it is to see my brother with someone who makes him so happy, and who gets along with me. He's never had a girlfriend that would actually spend time with me alone doing "girl" things. She is great and I couldn't have hand picked a better girl for my brother.

Weekend At Mom's

So last Thursday morning I packed up my suitcase and headed to moms for a few days. I hadn't been there in about a month so I was well overdue for a visit. I seem to stay so busy all the time that it's hard to get away.

Thursday, Brad and I went to get a haircut and then to visit the Nan and Pops. We stopped by HEB on the way and surprised them with dinner. It was so great to see them and they were excited about dinner and not having to cook anything. I hate that I don't make it down there more :-(

Here we are at Pops' Surprise 80th Birthday Party in February

Friday was pretty laid back until about 4 when my phone decided to freeze up. I did everything I knew to do in order to get it working again, but nothing worked. So me and my pissed off self threw on some clothes and drove to Waco. After going to 2 different AT&T stores, my phone still wasn't working and I was still pissed; eventually it started working again. Once I got home, Brad's roommate Bryan was there with Mom and John, and I decided it was time for a drink. After a drink or 2, April shows up and the 5 of us continue to drink... FYI Brad isn't home from softball yet either. Brad shows up and things continue to go in the drunk direction. Eventually Lance and Melissa come out and we are having a good 'ol time. We're all a little or a lot tipsy playing pool and throwing darts. Finally we wind the party down at 3 a.m. and go to bed.

Saturday we were all feeling a little rough to say the least. Mom and I cooked breakfast and then everyone decided to chill. About 1:30, April gets Brad to go get stuff to make bloody mary's
and they help me out a lot. I finally get the energy to go to the pool and work on the tan before getting ready to have dinner with dad and Leslie.

Here we are before dinner

Dinner was great and everyone had fun, despite eating way to much. Once we got back to the house we just hung out on the patio. Nothing quite as exciting as the night before, but we still had fun.

The rest of the weekend was pretty uneventful. After lunch, we all sat around and watched Marley and Me. It was so sad. Then mom and I went to Wal-Mart to get a few things and the stuff to make homemade ice cream.

So as you can tell, it was a full weekend, but so much fun. Off to do something productive.

Success!!!

I must admit that I'm pretty impressed with myself. Not that it was anything too hard, but just taking the time to make it all pretty. It's still not the exact way I want it, but for now it will do. I'm finding this to be quite therapeutic and can't wait to put more stuff up over the next few days. Enjoy it now because once I get back to work, postings may be few and far between.

Glass Cactus Nights

WARNING!!!! The following post is from about a year ago, but it's still kinda fun. Every Thursday night, The Glass Cactus in Grapevine has a Weekend Warm-Up Party where they play live Texas Country music. Becky, Robin and I became regulars around there and would always have a wonderful time. This is one of my favorite pics from last summer because it reminds me of all the great times we had; this was before "2 Beers" became the popular line.

Let's See How This Goes

Okay... In an attempt to kill time and keep everyone up to date with my life in pictures, I've decided to give this blogging thing a try. I have several friends that have one, and it seems like a fun thing to do. It may take me a while to get it all figured out, but I have faith in myself, especially since I have so much free time on my hands right now :-) Off to play around and try to figure this whole thing out. ENJOY!!!
